Trump Tweets “NO MORE DACA DEAL” As Fate of Millions of “Dreamers” Hang in the Balance

President Trump, in a series of tweets on Easter Sunday, declared that there will “No More DACA Deal” unless Mexico assists in increased U.S.-Mexico border security and curb border crossings into the north by illegal immigrants from south of the border. This comes as a shock to millions of Deferred Action on Childhood Arrival (DACA) recipients (Dreamers) who have been demanding a permanent DACA legislation from Congress and the Senate for months now since September of 2017 when President Trump rescinded the DACA program. The DACA allowed more than 700,000 recipients, who were illegally brought into the U.S. as minors by their parents, to temporarily work and live in the country until such time that they could legalize their immigration status or, otherwise, voluntary leave the country. Dreamers, thus, may be exposed to potential deportation
President Trump gave Congress and the Senate until March of 2017 to pass the DACA law. However, the March deadline has passed without the DACA law being passed. This was mostly due to political bickering among Democrats, Republicans, and White House who wanted to pre-condition the passing of the DACA law to the Congressional funding of the U.S.-Mexico border wall and increased assistance of Mexico in securing the border.
