Temporary Protection Status for Nicaraguans Ends, But Hondurans Get Extension

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not renew the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation of 2,500 Nicaraguans that allowed them to remain in the U.S. for almost two decades. The DHS gave the Nicaraguans 14 months to leave the U.S.

57,000 Hondurans, meanwhile, have been given an extension as the DHS deferred making a decision on their fate until such time they can make a definitive determination.
