Senate to Vote on DACA Bill on February 8

Republican Senator Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) told reporters that Senate leaders agreed to start the process of taking up the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals (DACA) bill and put it to a vote on February 8, 2018 (Thursday). The DACA bill has been a contentious issue between Democrat and Republican Congress and Senate leaders, as well the White House, that led to the recent federal government shutdown after disagreeing on the matter of the spending bill in relation to the DACA bill and U.S.-Mexico border wall. Democrats and Republicans are at odds on passing a DACA law that will save almost 700,000 young undocumented immigrants from deportation and at the same time passing laws that will construct the Republican/White House-supported U.S.-Mexico border wall as well as other immigration reforms.
