ICE Arrests 145 in Texas Immigration Raids

As part of the Trump Administration’s crackdown on undocumented immigrants, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested 145 undocumented immigrants in South and Central Texas. The arrests were conducted during so-called targeted enforcement operations with the aim of deporting undocumented immigrants with criminal records or those who have committed crimes. Out of the 145 individuals, 86 with criminal convictions will be deported to their home countries while the remaining 59 individuals who committed crimes will face criminal charges and undergo trial. Many quarters have criticized ICE’s operations all across the U.S. for unnecessarily arresting and deporting undocumented immigrants who have no criminal records or pose no threat to national security.
