California Couple Killed In Car Crash While Escaping ICE Agents

A couple in the California Central Valley were killed while driving away trying to escape Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. Santo Hilario Garcia, 35, and Marcelina Garcia Profecto, 33, were driving an SUV looking for work when they were mistakenly stopped by ICE agents after Santo Hilario Garcia matched a target deportee’s description. The couple complied at first but immediately sped away when the ICE agents were about to approach them. Unfortunately, the couple lost control of their vehicle after encountering a dirt road, overturning, and crashing into a power line pole. ICE later admitted that Santo Hilario Garcia was not the same person they were looking for. The couple left six children aged 8 to 18.
