3 Out of 4 Convicted Terrorists are Foreign-Born -DHS and DOJ Report

The Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice released a Report discussing terrorism-related statistics involving mostly foreign-born terrorists. The Report stated, among other statistics, that 3 out of 4 individuals, or 402 individuals, convicted of international terrorism-related charges in U.S. Federal Courts between September 11, 2001 and December 31, 2016 were foreign-born. The Report emphasized on the vulnerability of U.S. immigration policies of being exploited by terrorists due to its pre-September 11, 2001 orientation, thus, needing a review of the immigration system’s visa laws and enhanced vetting of individuals.
