Spouses Seeking Legal Permanent Residency Being Arrested by ICE

Reports of undocumented immigrants married to U.S. citizens are being arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents while having their interviews at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) offices for the purpose of beginning the process of acquiring a legal permanent residency status. This is just one of the many tactics that ICE has done to carry out the Trump Administration’s aggressive policies of deporting undocumented immigrants and minimizing legal immigration. Other recent aggressive actions by ICE are carrying out raids on employers employing undocumented immigrants, arresting undocumented immigrants appearing in courthouses, inviting undocumented immigrants to ICE offices for a meeting but only to be arrested once they appear, and requiring State authorities to divulge State criminal records of undocumented immigrants, among others.
